Polish film covering the Stalin ordered massacre of much of Poland's military and intellectual elite towards the end of WWII. Blamed on the Germans for many years and only fairly recently admitted to by the Russians. Well done film if painful to watch. Something I hadn't heard of before which always makes for an interesting experience with respect to historical dramas. In what I suspect was not intended as humor there's a scene with the Nazi's attempting to get a general's widow to support their story that it wasn't them responsible for the deaths. Given the scope of Nazi atrocities it was almost amusing to watch their on screen concern with being blamed for these specific deaths. I wouldn't rush out to see this but it's not one to avoid either - excepting the grim subject matter.
